I recently joined the Shoot for Success family this year and the support that I have received from Mitch has been unreal. All the calls and knowledge he has can really help hockey players choose the pathway that is best for them and that’s exactly what he did for me. Mitch helped me advance into the league on the team that I wanted to play on.
When I was exploring my hockey options Mitch was very helpful in mapping my different paths. He was very informative in explaining the NCAA route from his past experience. He takes time to sit down with you and lay out a plan that works with your needs. He was genuinely interested in my success. I was fortunate enough to make it to the OHL and appreciate that Mitch still takes time to talk hockey and provide advice.
When I was exploring options for both junior and college hockey Mitch was exceptionally knowledgeable in every step of that process. I had full confidence in every decision I made because of the knowledge he provided me with. I was lucky enough to commit to NCAA Division 1 Stonehill College and appreciate everything Mitch has done for me!
Mitch has been an amazing advisor for the past five years. His knowledge of junior hockey and the NCAA put me in the best position to get noticed and be successful in my search for a college hockey program. Mitch’s relationships with junior and college organizations created smooth and easy methods of contact that allowed me to obtain as much information as possible to make the decision that was best for me. Mitch was always there when I needed him for advice or had questions. Mitch could also relate from his own experiences which helped in the decision process. My family and I have been very happy and grateful for the work that Mitch has done in helping me play NCAA hockey. I highly recommend his service.
I was first introduced to Mitch and Shoot for Success five years ago in 2017. I was one of his first clients. He took the time to visit my home and sit down with my family and I. My experience with Mitch and his mentorship has been exceptional. Throughout the years he has remained in constant contact with me and has taken the time to provide advice, encouragement and instruction. Mitch has helped me achieve my goal of playing college hockey for an incredible school while also getting a great education. I committed to Elmira College and cannot thank Mitch enough for his support throughout my hockey journey.
I first met Mitch in Kitchener before one of his skates. He sat down with me and asked what my goals were for the upcoming season and beyond. I told Mitch that I wanted to play NCAA hockey next September. He was honest with me and upfront with what I needed to do to achieve that goal. Over the next couple months Mitch set out to help make that happen for me. He put me in touch with many coaches from different NCAA schools around the states. At times when I was going through games without points or wasn't playing my best Mitch always stayed by my side and was very positive the whole way through. When I had a big game, I would often see a text or a missed call from Mitch congratulating me. If I was a young player trying to get to the next level I would highly suggest working with Mitch!
I began working with Mitch a couple years back and right from the start he was easy to get along with. He is very knowledgeable and genuinely cares about your career path. After a few phone calls we joined Shoot for Success and I am very happy I did. Together we made a path to help guide me through the complicated route to get to the NCAA. He has many connections and contacts with teams across Canada and NCAA schools. Recently I have committed to the Powell River Kings in the BCHL and Mitch has given me great advice on what to expect. We will work together on trying to reach my goal of playing NCAA hockey. Shoot for Success is a great program that is there for your every need.
Mitch played junior hockey and graduated at the collegiate level while playing the sport he loves. The way he expresses his experiences while playing college hockey is motivational and you can tell he wants every kid who loves the game to experience the same relationships and memories he did, no matter where your career takes you. Mitch has such a large network of relationships with so many coaches and other personnel. I was never the kid to have many options with regards to hockey and choosing which team I wanted to play for. However, Mitch put in the time and effort to seek out schools. I ended up having a great selection of schools that had my preferred courses as well as first class athletics programs. I am now proud to say that I will be attending college to continue my hockey career as well as further my education to become an architect. What separates Mitch from everyone else is that he’s your friend before your advisor. He is someone that you can talk to about anything, even if it’s not hockey related. I hope whoever reads this takes the chance on Mitch because I promise you, he’s worth it.
Working with Mitch has been an all around great experience. He was readily available when I had questions or concerns, always assisting me in the process. Mitch was very supportive during my junior hockey career. He would regularly send congratulatory texts after my wins and check in to see how I was doing. With his knowledge in the industry and supportive guidance, he definitely helped me achieve my goal to play NCAA hockey! I am grateful and extremely appreciative!
Working with Mitch has been a pleasure! He sent emails to schools I had an interest in, personally picked up the phone to call coaches on my behalf, and guided me on questions I had about the NCAA process. He even gave me little tips and tricks on how to keep a clear mind in a big game. Mitch is a well connected advisor in the hockey world. I want to thank him for how much effort he has put in over the past few years!
My experience working with Mitch at Shoot for Success was well worth the investment. What he has provided me with was the guidance and help I needed to find NCAA schools, figure out who was interested, learn how to contact them properly, and then figure out what school was right for me. Any questions I had he was quick to answer, any request I had he took the extra time to do it for me if it was beneficial. The Shoot for Success program allowed me to focus on my hockey game this season so I could fully enjoy it and put my best self on the ice everyday. The program took a lot of the stress away from the NCAA process. Without Mitch, I may have found a school, but it would have taken way more time and energy on my end to make it happen, which would have taken away from enjoyment of my last year of junior hockey. I am happy with my school selection and am happy I chose to work with the Shoot for Success program.
I began working with Mitch in the pre-season of my 19 year old campaign. Mitch helped find the right junior teams that suited my aspirations of playing college hockey, as well as navigated the trade process multiple times between three Junior A leagues. Under his advisement, I was fortunate enough to win the NOJHL Championship with the Soo Thunderbirds and had an unbelievable once in a lifetime experience of playing for the Centennial Cup, Canada's National Junior A Tournament. He is always a call away, and has been the voice of reason to calm my frustrations throughout my junior career, as he has experienced these hardships first hand. His knowledge of the NCAA commitment process was of tremendous use during my school selection process, and helped facilitate conversations and opportunities for me. I cannot thank Mitch enough for his support and the positive impact he has made on my career!
During an unprecedented overage junior hockey season, Mitch helped me and my family navigate through the NCAA process. As a former NCAA athlete himself, Mitch is able to directly connect to a player’s needs and is able to educate families on the different pathways you can choose. He is able to utilize his personable skills and past playing experiences to help advise strong career decisions. Mitch truly cares about his clients as people and always has their best interest. With Shoot for Success’ help, I will be attending Rivier University in the NCAA for the 2021-22 season. I wish nothing but continued success for Mitch and Shoot for Success in the future.
I came to Mitch with about a month left before college started looking for an NCAA opportunity. He helped me through the college application process, and within a couple of weeks discovered a number of solid NCAA opportunities. He was very helpful throughout my time searching for a school, answering all of my questions and giving me tips on how to handle certain situations. We were in constant communication throughout the whole time which I know is something you don’t always get with a lot of advisors/agents. I’m sure I was probably one of, if not the latest commit. I’m very happy I will be attending Northland College, and I highly recommend his expertise in helping anyone achieve their hockey dreams!
Navigating the college hockey process is an intimidating realm. It’s hard to know where to even begin. Luckily I was able to get in touch with Mitch and Shoot for Success. Mitch has been through the process and knows it by heart. Through his contacts I was able to not only speak with multiple coaches, but learn how to speak with them and present myself in the best way possible. Mitch helped me with my collegiate process but consistently offered advice that will stick with me much longer than my 4 years of college hockey. He works extremely hard for his clients in a very professional manner and the results show. We set a goal for me to play collegiate hockey, and now I’ll be playing at Alvernia University this fall. I’m grateful to be a part of the Shoot for Success program and I recommend it to anyone looking for representation. Mitch will do everything in his power to assist you in your goals and dreams, just as he did for me. I’m very excited for Shoot for Success and its future growth.
As a hockey player there are many options when it comes to consultants, picking the right one is often a daunting and complicated venture for an athlete and their family. Choosing the right one for myself was no different. I was determined to find someone who I could build a good relationship with and after hearing about Shoot for Success through a friend I decided to give it a shot. From the first phone call I knew that Mitch had my best intentions in mind and had the knowledge and drive to bring me to the next level. Right away we went over my ambitions and came up with an action plan to help me achieve those objectives. Even through transitioning to a different team at the beginning of the season, Mitch was able to give me advice on how to go about everything as well as help me keep my confidence. We started immediately reaching out to schools that could be a good fit for me academically, financially and athletically. Within six weeks I was applying to schools and had built a relationship with multiple coaches at both the NCAA and ACHA D1 levels. Mitch coached me through the entire process of reaching out and speaking to coaches, applications and financial aid. At the end of it all we were able to find the perfect school for myself and my family to call home for the next four years at Liberty University. For a personable touch and great service I would recommend the Shoot for Success program and thank them for all it has done for me and my family.
Mitch gave me great advice and always was very friendly. Through his connections I was able to talk with NCAA and ACHA schools. When choosing a school he educated me not just on hockey but also the financials and academics. I thank Mitch for everything he’s done and taught me. Without Mitch and Shoot for Success I don’t think I would be where I’m at right now. I highly recommend anyone to Mitch if you are serious about hockey and getting to that next level. I’m happy to be playing hockey at the University of Toledo next year and look forward to these next four years as a Rocket!
I had the opportunity to recruit Mitch Atkins while he was playing hockey in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League and liked what I saw from the beginning. Mitch played for me for 3 seasons at Elmira College. I have had the chance to work with many young men throughout my career and Mitch was one of the best character players that I have ever had. I think he learned a great deal throughout his three years and has learned first-hand through this experiences as a player what it takes to be a great athlete and team leader. If there is one thing that really stands out about Mitch, it is his passion for the game. He is an unbelievably hard worker, competitor and teammate.
I have known Mitch for the past two years when we met as teammates and roommates during his first season of pro hockey. We also played against each other in college. Mitch has grown incredibly as a player in such a short span, turning himself into an impact player at the pro level and great leader as well. Living with Mitch, it is easy to see his passion for his work, and the effort he puts in each day to help others succeed in the sport of hockey. His relentlessness is second to none, and shows with the success he has had thus far in moving players on to the next level. I would recommend any player looking to enhance their hockey career to take the next step and allow Mitch to help you achieve your goals!
Playing college hockey was the greatest experience of my life. In four years I made many memories and friendships that cannot be broken. The college hockey experience brought me one of my best friends and someone who I consider a part of my family, Mitch Atkins. I had the privilege of being Mitch’s college teammate for three years, and lived with him my junior year at Elmira. I can say with no hesitation, his immense passion and drive to further the game of hockey is unmatched. He is a genuine, down to earth guy who will not stop in his efforts to help a player reach their ultimate goal of playing at the highest level. In the quest to find the college of best fit Mitch goes far and beyond to establish a connection with not only the players, but their families as well. During my time at Elmira I watched him work relentlessly to drive the building blocks of Shoot for Success into place. For the most personal experience, I cannot think of a better person to handle college enquiries than Mitch. He has in depth knowledge on what it takes to play in the NCAA, not only as an athlete but from an academic standpoint as well. He has provided needed guidance to many young, aspiring hockey players looking to achieve the dream of playing collegiate hockey. What sets Mitch apart from other advisors is that you will never be just another client, you join the Shoot for Success family. If I had the chance I would want to be a part of the Shoot for Success program.
